I love a bit of etymology - I wonder if cagnòla has the same root as the French canicule, which nowadays means "heatwave" but used to specifically mean what we call the "dog days of summer" in English (so-called because the dog star Sirius returned to the sky towards the end of July and was said to bring the hottest, most uncomfortable part of summer).
Is it still play if you force yourself to do it? Definitely should do the things you want, especially on those warm summer days. I've had a nice collection of game days scheduled by friends so that was nice because usually I am the one organizing things. But then long breaks in between with just video games and books.
I am giving myself a long weekend this weekend to just exist. If board games happen, that's cool, but it's more just not having to be at work lol
Love that word...I will have to google how to pronounce it correctly.

Brilliant! I didn’t think about “canicola” which is an older term but still in use in Italian
